Terms of Service Review

XmrBazaar is a non-custodial, peer-to-peer marketplace allowing users to buy and sell goods and services using Monero. It operates without identity verification and utilizes client-side multisig escrow.

Strict listing policing

The platform administrators actively monitor and delete listings categorized as illegal, high-risk, or scams, and will permanently ban offending users.

No IP logging

The terms explicitly state the platform does not store IP addresses or use analytics, though they recommend Tor or a VPN to hide connections from your ISP.

Client-side encryption

Key generation and encryption for both the PGP messenger and multisig escrow happen 100% locally in the user's browser; the server cannot decrypt messages or access funds.

No platform refunds

Because the platform never takes custody of funds, it is technically impossible for the administrators to refund lost money or reverse transactions.

AI Summary

Updated

Reviewers state the Monero marketplace provides a functional, privacy-focused platform for peer-to-peer trading. However, many strongly urge buyers to exercise caution and always use intermediaries to secure their transactions.

  • no kyc
  • escrow support
  • encrypted messaging
  • unchecked scammers
  • fake reviews
  • low user base

Really good service, all chats are locked down with a public key, so no one can actually access them. The problem with this platform is that there are many scammers, and many false services. But if you are lucky, like I was, you can actually have a good experience with a seller.

how exactly does a clearnet site running js like xmrbazaar gets 100% on a privacy score? i'm sure @pluja is whiter than white and definitely isn't doing them any favours though

Added context: Rating disabled since it doesn’t appear to be based on first-hand use of the service itself.

Scores are not assigned arbitrarily by me. They’re calculated automatically from the service attributes, and the scoring system is 100% open source.

In this case, XmrBazaar has an onion site and works without JS. So what you say about "clearnet + JS" is false.

If you think a specific attribute is wrong, say which one and I’ll review it.

obstinate_fir_5057

"Open source" is a meaningless when you control the server. Absolute coincidence that you advertise on their site too .

Just add the attributes scores with your calculator. There's nothing hidden.

And yes, I paid 1XMR to add a link to kycnot.me on their ad space. What's the problem?

periodic_interplay_7297

Your thinking is flawed. A site offering a clearnet front door with twitter verification is a privacy liability by design .The existence of an onion address doesnt erase that clearnet users exist and your system gives them a false 100% seal of approval . Nobody is toggling js off just to browse the marketplace. You arent doing it either. Most are there for the trollbox . your algorithm rewards having an onion address so heavily that it papers over fundamental clearnet+js exposure ,then spits out a perfect privacy score that users will trust at face value .Youre scoring a site you financially support and displaying that score to its users . That arrangement alone should disqualify you from pretending objectivity here

The score is not assigned arbitrarily by me. It is calculated automatically from the public attribute system, the same way for all services. You can just check it yourself independently with a calculator.

In XmrBazaar’s case, it reflects the attributes currently assigned, including onion availability and no-JS access.

You’re right that the current score does not specifically penalize the case where a user chooses to access the service through clearnet with JS enabled. The score reflects the privacy options the service makes available, not every possible way a user may choose to use it.

And yes, I bought ad space on XmrBazaar to promote KYCnot.me. That does not affect the score calculation at all.

Hi, this isnt a review, but just a comment: I dont think XMRbazaar should get a thumbs down in the KYCnotME rating, for blocking illegals stuff on their market. They say upfront that its for legal stuff, so theyre not misrepresenting anything, and Doug is doxxed, so he has no choice really.

Site can use some improvement but Doug (site owner) is trustworthy, he hosts the top Monero podcast.

New review.📝 Please delete my old positive reviews! Important information for those who will be reading reviews about this resource!

Never conduct transactions on this site without ‘escrow’🔒✅ which is the name of the transaction format when the administrator or a trusted representative of the administration acts as an intermediary for your transaction.

⚠️There are a lot of scammers on the site!⚠️ The site administrator will not help you if you are cheated; he will ask you to write a report on a special platform. In other words, if you are cheated by user ‘A’, the site's support service will not help you. You will write a report about fraudster “A”, he will change his profile (IP, new account, etc.) to ‘B’ and continue to cheat other decent users! When I suggested that all transactions be conducted through the administrators, as was the case on OpenMonero (when the old version was working), the administrator refused.

nthpyrodev

There is no good reason to force the user to do a trade through the admins. If the user wants to, they can choose to use an admin (eg Aillia) as the mediator for the escrow. But stop blaming the platform, you're at fault for not using escrow. You say this yourself: "never conduct transactions on this platform without escrow".

And the "separate site" is the forum, with a thread for reporting scammers, which is reasonable.

Scammers will always exist, just use common sense and escrow and it's difficult to go wrong.

non-Communist_noose_9065

You didn’t read what I wrote carefully. Scammer “A” defrauded a user, then changed all their information, and now, under the name “B,” continues to defraud other users on the site. The site and its creators aren’t taking any steps to reduce the number of such scammers. What does the site offer through Aillia? It says: if you’ve been scammed, post a notice explaining what happened and who scammed you. But here’s the thing: scammer “A” has become scammer “B”—do you understand, or not again? I suggested to Aillia in chat and in private messages that they remove all direct transactions and NOT encourage fraud on the site! NOT encourage it! Make it so that all transactions are conducted only through trusted intermediaries or administrators. My request was ignored.

aggregate_x-ray_8770

bought some service accounts. works. ESCROW supported

nthpyrodev

Completed multiple transactions on XMRBazaar so far, had no problems, and the site works well.

Reviews can't be trusted , way to easy for sellers to fake sales and reviews hence the 2 stars , I do like the UI

Deze website is erg makkelijk te gebruiken en ik heb mijn eerste aankoop gedaan.

Wees voorzichtig met oplichters en koop altijd van iemand die je vertrouwt.

Pros: Convenient registration without KYC, you will be given a token, you do not need mail or phone. The site is clean without google trackers and scripts. There are reviews that do not delete. There is a Matrix room to ask questions to the support team.

Cons: You will not be able to log in if your computer time does not match the NTP server. There are few sellers and buyers.

bony_zealot_6833

Very nice platform for advertising and publishing offers like cash by mail but not easy to communicate with sellers if javascript is disabled due to client-side encryption with PGP

Trêvoid

A reliable platform for Monero trading.
