Terms of Service Review

OrangeFren is an aggregator. It collects no personal data, but linked third-party exchanges may halt swaps, demand KYC, or reject coins from privacy protocols.

Third-Party Shotgun KYC

Despite finding the best KYC-free deals, third-party exchanges linked on the platform may still halt your swap and demand KYC or Source of Funds at any time.

Privacy Tech Penalized

Third-party exchanges reserve the right to apply a surcharge or reject coins originating from CoinJoins, ZK L2s, and other privacy-preserving techniques.

Guarantee Exclusions

The OrangeFren Guarantee refund policy does not protect users whose funds are frozen by exchanges that have a KYC warning, in the event the user refuses verification.

No User Tracking

The platform itself is anonymous to use; it does not track you or store personal information, and recommends using their Tor mirror with JavaScript disabled.

Non-custodial Aggregator

OrangeFren only acts as a directory to find the best exchange rates. They never hold or touch your coins.

Never-KYC Refunds

Services marked as "Never-KYC" will not force you to undergo verification, but they use automated checks and will refund coins that do not meet their AML standards.

I use them about 1-2 times per month. They are useful due to their color coded tags and filters, it makes it easy to narrow down your choices to decide which swap service to use. Probably the best swap aggregator, and Orange Fren strongly supoorts XMR as well, so they have my vote.

It's convenient that OrangeFren has the OF Guarantee feature, which allows you to get your funds back if the exchange violates its own rules to the detriment of users.

You mentioned that, we no longer have FF listed on Intercambio, because they required us to start logging and we declined. Well FF is listed on OrangeFren so that means you do give them user logs?

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

Hey! No, we don't give them any logs. On OrangeFren.com we only link to them so there's no logging requirement, but on Intercambio.app and in the Intercambio SimpleX bot, the entire swap happen through us and that's when they require logging. We don't want to spy on our users so had to get rid of them there. Same applies to StealthEX by the way.

So, on OF, you only provide the links, and when those links are used, we enter the FF area where they handle the logging. You don’t do the logging yourself on OF you just provide the links, right?

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

That's correct. Crucially, because we cache rates, only the exchange you eventually pick will know of your exchange. If you were comparing rates by hand then every exchange would see someone was getting as estimate for X of currency Y into currency Z.

In short, OrangeFren responded to me promptly and got all my information. They then checked with FixedFloat, and got back to me to the effect of: what were you thinking sending dirty Bitcoin to FixedFloat? Then they suggested that I seek employment with North Korea.

In any case, needless to say, I will never be dealing with Trocador, FixedFloat, or OrangeFren based on this experience.

Hi I would like to use OrangeFren with xchange.me. On OrangeFren you say "Tainted coins may be refunded. Refunds processed without KYC." Is this guaranteed that my funds even if they are detected as tainted are refunded without any KYC?

Because as far as i know xchange.me is known to sometimes shotgun KYC after deposit...

Tested several times, small amounts. From their page I exchanged via exolix and pegasusswap, all exchanges worked, no KYC required. Nothing to complain so far.

Whenever I search, I often see the message: "This offer is likely unavailable in your location!" How do you know where I am? Are you collecting my location data? If something goes wrong, do you share my information with law enforcement? Also, why do you have a special email address like le@orangefren.com? This makes me question it’s NOT safe to use Orangefren!

Added context: This comment lacks supporting evidence for accusations of data sharing or safety issues. Rating was disabled.

How do you know where I am? Are you collecting my location data?

All requests sent to our server have a 2 letter country code deduced from the user's IP address, or they came either from the Tor mirror we have, or from a known Tor exit node. You'll most commonly see this warning if you're using Tor and we show you results from services that don't allow Tor traffic. We never log your IP address and it never even reaches our main servers to log it. Thus we are unable to share it with anyone. In fact our no-log policy is so annoying to some services that we recently had to remove two (FixedFloat and StealthEX) from our sister site Intercambio.app, because they insisted we log user IPs.

Regarding the law enforcement email address - we added it to prevent them from trying to contact us using our live chat. Emails make it much easier to verify their origin. We have never shared any information with anyone, including law enforcement.

Exolix answer did not convince me that my funds are safe with them in terms of freezing or that they will ask for KYC at some point.

support team says:In this case, everything depends on the specific exchange deposit (translated) support team says:At the moment the address does not have extremely high risk cases (translated)

We are. If you don't believe us then just do swaps below the OrangeFren Guarantee limit for Exolix (currently ~$6k). If we're wrong we'll refund you with their security deposit.

Terms of Service Review says NO KYC is fake everyone! I noticed pegasusswap is tagged as "guaranteed never-kyc" but looking into this exchange's terms of service, (pegasusswap.com/privacy-policy) they have the typical KYC/AML policies that says otherwise. Know this! Exerice caution!

I'd like to warn you about an issue you may be not aware of.

Yesterday I exchanged small amount of USDT (on Tron network) for BTC and used OrangeFren for exchange rate comparison.

First option was CCE.cash exchange with best exchange rate. But on their website, the exchange rate was different and MUCH worse.

So there is possibility that some exchanges manipulate data to display better exchange rates on OrangeFren than they actually use.

I acted in haste and didn't check but I lost few dollars, on the other hand someone else could be burned pretty bad.

Added context: BitcoinTalk thread . Rating was disabled because original BitcoinTalk author reported he is not the author of this comment and he would not give 1 star to OrangeFren.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

We're very sorry about your negative experience. In this specific instance the exchange amount was very small ($11) and the swap was from TRX ERC20 to BTC both of which have high respective gas and onchain fees.

coveted_flatland_7358

Orangefren is just a website to get rates, they don't do anything special. What I don't get is why would someone use their service if they are behind Cloudflare. I mean, if I wanted to swap with FixedFloat or Exolix I would just go there directly instead of passing all my data to Orangefren, and automatically to Cloudflare as well. We don't really know who is behind CF services, but this is a huge red flag that our community should focus more on getting away from. I don't think there's any privacy gain by using a service that is behind CF. If we pressured more on services that use them and avoided using these services there would be more options free from it. I'm sorry but this is my humble opinion. I'll be sure to avoid it as long as they use CF.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

Regarding the advantages to using our site over just going straight to the exchanges:

  • we have arrangements with services that give our users better swap conditions (for instance some services we list are never-KYC only for users with our link)
  • we have the OrangeFren Guarantee protection that allows us to refund you straight from the exchange's coffers and our customer support can greatly speed up the resolution of issues with the services we list

I understand your concerns regarding our use of CF. Unfortunately we get hit by so many DDoS attacks that we have to use a service such as CF. We are looking into alternatives to CF that can still fulfill the same role. In the meantime you can avoid CF by using our Tor mirror: http://rnwis2whetqcj4oknksnc5l24jbh33nflunifff3xtjjonnoxu3ld6id.onion/

Thank you for the feedback!

coveted_flatland_7358

There are other services that don't make use of Cloudflare, for example Majesticbank. There is DDoS-guard for example, which is also centralized but it's russian (at least). However if you did not opt for the lazy option, you could implement something from neither these two. This is just because your service is not professional, you and your team don't really know what you are really doing. All your users' data might be leaking and you don't even have a clue.

Are you sure that this claims is right? KYC will never be required for any of its listed exchanges. ??? What he listed on many exchanges asks KYC. Why misleading? Also i would suggest that create a log page with all the changes you make to the service which asked kyc or not.

pluja
Admin

Hi. This service is an aggregator. The KYC level is the one from the least restrictive exchange they list. Anyway, you can see that it states "Depends on partners", meaning that this level will depend on the partner you choose.

concurrent_baby-sitter_9079

While FixedFloat has earned a notably poor reputation, similar warnings are not present for Orangefren. Additionally, I reached out to Exolix myself and was not given any assurances that they would refrain from freezing funds or requesting KYC verification even i use Orangefren.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

Thanks for the feedback! We've had a warning regarding FF for years now. We warn that FF might require Source-of-Funds, Know-Your-Customer and we strongly advise against depositing into FF from a wallet that you do not control. Is there another warning you'd like to see us add?

instinctive_expert_4459

Your current warning states: "Rarely KYC & SoF may be required. Only deposit from a wallet you control." This wording is vague and could be misleading. To better protect both your platform and users, you should use clear language, include appropriate icons or visual cues, and be upfront about your requirements. Simply saying "Only deposit from a wallet you control" is not enough. Please be more honest, transparent, and avoid using ambiguous or tricky language. Also FF not even listed on kycnot.me.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

FixedFloat IS listed on knm :) https://kycnot.me/service/fixedfloat

I'll think about how the wording can be improved.

They guy behind this service is known to the Monero users as he attends a lot of conferences in Europe. This is a positive trait, I guess. He also promotes meet ups with FixedFloat as a sponsor.

OrangeFren is the best service for finding the best rates and the guarantees offered.

thorough_yearling_4240

It seems like they only feature services that pay their listing fee, and I don’t believe they truly prioritize user privacy. For example, they list platforms like FixedFloat, ChangeNow, and Swapuz... some of them been involved in scams and have cost users millions. It’s concerning that these sites are still listed, and I’m not comfortable with that. Just honest talk.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

I'm sorry to hear you're upset about the services we list. Please bare in mind the vast majority of our users are fine with the risk of having to undergo KYC in exchange for a better rate. Our mission is to ensure our users have the all the relevant information available before they make a swap and in the rare case that their trade is frozen to assist them to the best of our ability. We're happy to consider any suggestions you might have on how to best warn our users of the shotgun-KYC risks present with the services you listed.

rigid_endgame_2358

Just remove FixedFloat and other fake KYC exchanges, or at least make it very very clear with huge warning that they have the ability to freeze funds. FixedFloat is a selective scammer and has stolen millions of dollars. This is not a rare incident, so please don’t downplay it.

OrangeFren
Owner at OrangeFren

We currently have a red warning next to every non never-KYC exchange on the homepage and a brief yellow warning text for those services on the results page. What sort of clearer warning do you suggest?

bleached_finalist_5381

Numerous accusations on bitcointalk forum. For example, fixedfloat holding my funds $1000 🚓 🚨 FixedFloat Scammed Me Too 🚨 🚓 Fixedfloat is scamming me for 8000+ EUR IMPORTANT PSA! FixedFloat.com stole my funds

I would also suggest removing FF.
