Terms of Service Review
Nym is a Switzerland-based decentralized VPN that uses an independent node network and zero-knowledge credentials to unlink user identities and payments from their network activity.
Account termination
The provider reserves the right to suspend or terminate user access to the services entirely at their discretion and without prior notice.
Decentralized constraints
The VPN operates via independent node operators who are contractually bound to abstain from logging or passing on user traffic data.
Unlinked payments
The service employs a zero-knowledge credential system (zk-nyms) ensuring that even payments made via third-party providers like Stripe cannot be mathematically linked to VPN usage.
Challenges legal requests
The provider formally commits to challenging data requests from Swiss authorities to the maximum extent permitted by law and making such requests public.
Fair use limit
The platform applies a data transfer limit of 2 TB per user per month to ensure service reliability.

I've bought a multi year subscription a long time ago and barely used it because it was unusable.
BUT! Fast forward to 2026, and i have to say it has grown tremendously to the point that it has become my VPN of choice.
i truly believe NYM is the future.
I will preface this comment by saying that I have not yet used this service, this is simply an observation.
There are no WireGuard configuration files available to download, which limits you to their VPN clients, that have had quite a few vulnerabilities in the past, as evidenced by their plentiful security audits on their website.

If WireGuard configuration files were to be available to download for the user, it would be a much more secure experience for everybody, because the trust then isn't of the NYM team to reinvent the wheel, but of the WireGuard project's client, which is much more secure and has been open source and public for longer.
Nice VPN with all wanted features like kill switch, split and more. Fast mode ist fast, privacy mode is slow. Could have more servers. Price is fine. On mobile and desktop. The VPN is not as early in development as when many negative reviews were written.
This services claim to be decentralized, but it's not permission-less, so what's the point if they can terminate your account at "their sole discretion" ?
NYM is next-level privacy — mixnet + dVPN in one sleek app. No metadata leaks, no surveillance. Just pure, fast, anonymous browsing. 🕶️🌐
Speeds in Asia are unsatisfactory. European servers are good. It's still hard to use because it has fewer features. It needs features for split tunneling, ad blocking, and overall node quality needs to be improved.
All Marketing, No Substance. Completely Unusable.
I was drawn in by the constant advertising for NYM and decided to give it a fair shot. Unfortunately, my experience has been a complete waste of time and a perfect example of a service that's all hype and no delivery.
My troubleshooting journey went like this:
Ubuntu: I started here, hoping for a smooth experience. Instead, I immediately ran into problems with the container. It simply refused to work.
Windows: Figuring it might be a Linux-specific issue, I switched to Windows. The result was exactly the same: it did not work.
Android: My final attempt was on my phone. I wasn't even asking for much, just a basic speed test to see what it was capable of. The service failed spectacularly, unable to load a single webpage.
I was using the WireGuard mode, which is supposed to be fast and reliable. It's clear that the issue isn't the protocol, but the service itself. It seems NYM has invested all its money in marketing and completely neglected to buy functional servers.
Of all the public VPNs and proxies I've tried, this is genuinely the worst. Their strategy for anonymity seems to be: "If you have no internet connection, you're perfectly anonymous!" It's a clever plan, I'll give them that.
Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this service. It's nothing more than useless garbage. I'm more than willing to provide my order number or any other proof to validate this review.
It's not intended to replace Tor. I also think the double hop wireguard vpn option is pretty good considering you can choose your entry and exit, for those who have heard about the slower mixnet.
Paying 12 eur (or 6 eur with crypto) just for over engineered Tor clone? Nah, not for price, not for their advertising, not for their slow and instable connection quality.
Please just donate to Tor exit nodes...
It's not a Tor clone. It actually provides stronger anonymity than Tor since in addition to onion routing it mixes traffic, adds noise, and delays to resist timing analysis. Tor should adopt the same methods.
Impressive VPN project backed by a team that knows their stuff.
It’s come a long way since the beta. Getting more polished now, but still missing a few standard VPN features (split tunneling, custom DNS, WireGuard config files). Bonus points for the unique mixnet mode for added privacy and anonymous signup.
One to follow!
I'm going to have to retract previous statements actually. I have purchased 2 subscriptions, 1 for 1 year and a 2nd for 2 years because I was very excited about the potential Nym had after first trying the vpn. However, fast forward to 2026 I can't even sync cake wallet when using it on mobile. Not only is it not intended to replace Tor, but good luck with using Tor whatsoever unless you have a bridge that can bypass whatever they have on their block list. Yes it does exist, run a node and you will see the flag for it. I have run both a mixnode and an entry/relay with 100k stake provided by the team at one point before leaving.
